4/15 - 7pm @ Merriam Christian Church

4/21 - 7pm @ Bonner Springs Methodist Church

What is Day Camp?

  • Available to all Cub Scouts in incoming grades first through fifth.
  • Day Camps are not overnight camps. They involve five days of daytime activities outdoors.
  • Day Camps usually focus on Scouts earning achievements based on nature, cooking, shooting sports, crafts, and most importantly FUN!

Cub Scout Day Camps are distinct from other summer camps in that they prepare younger children for overnight camping by building their outdoor skill sets. So while your Scout may not be ready to venture into the woods for a week of camping, they may be prepared to camp with their pack after a few years of Cub Scout Day Camp.

Adult leadership is critical to having a great camp experience. The Pack must provide leadership and adult supervision for their Cub Scouts who attend Day Camp, plus provide transportation to and from the camp. It is recommended that Packs have at least one registered adult leader attend camp for every five to six Cub Scouts. Just like all Scouting activities, two deep leadership must be followed and Youth Protection Training completed for all adults. Everyone must complete Parts A&B of the Annual Health and Medical Record.

Cub Scouts will come to camp each morning for a week to participate in several different activities and then head home at the end of the afternoon. Cubs that attend will:  shoot BB guns and bows and arrows; earn Cub Scout Adventure loops; Webelos Adventure pins; cookout; learn about nature; build crafts; sing songs; and play games. If you have not made plans to attend you should!

What Time Do They Start?

The Kaw District Day Camp is Monday - Friday and starts at 9 am and runs through 3 pm, and takes place rain or shine. Day Camp is located at Theodore Naish Scout Reservation Trust Property in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Day Camp leadership will provide training and other materials for your adults. This training and materials will include camp operations, program, and fun!
